Senior WordPress PHP Engineer (part-time)
We are looking for a WordPress PHP Engineer to join the Gaucho Plugins family. The engineer will be responsible for developing unique code that can withstand high profile sites and intense loads. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to architect and develop durable, extensible, and secure code.

Part-time Salary:



Part-time (2-4 hours per day, depending on rate)
At least 3 hours of overlapping availability per week between 9:00 am PST – 5:00 pm PST for team meetings
Location is unimportant as long as you are available, enthusiastic, committed and know your stuff


You’ll be part of a development team working on our flagship product

As a Senior WordPress PHP Engineer you would:

Develop new software solutions and maintain existing applications
Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and objectives
Create, review, and update technical documentation
Keep apprised of relevant new technology and best practices
Write tests to validate code function
Execute bug fixes
Measure results of implemented solutions
Participate in troubleshooting/triaging of issues and document them appropriately

You ideally should have:

A portfolio of WordPress plugins
5+ years experience w/ PHP (WordPress Plugin development would be a big plus)
Thorough knowledge of MySQL
Basic knowledge of the product development life cycle
Exceptional organizational and communication skills
JavaScript experience (including experience with jQuery and Webpack)
Exceptional HTML & CSS skills
Comfortable working in a Linux environment
A passion for improving software/systems
Ability to work remotely with little-to-no supervision

Bonus points for:

Experience with developing blocks for the Block Editor and developing w/ Javascript
Experience with continuous integration and automated deployment pipelines
Experience building products that are accessible (you’ve worked with WAI-ARIA and done WCAG 2.0+ AA/Section 508 work) and performant (working knowledge of best practices)
Experience in more advanced areas of JavaScript (state management; async operations; unit, snapshot, and integration testing; REST APIs)
