Looking to hire a remote PHP / WordPress & Front-end developer. Could be full time or part time. Ideal candidate lives in the Eastern timezone because we work 830AM to 430PM. Our team is split between the GTA & Montreal.
Only candidates in North or Latin America will be considered.
Responsibilities would include upgrading a WP theme to a new one that already exists and then on-going maintenance and development of 2 or more WordPress sites. Our themes are built using Timber (and the Twig templating language).
You would be responsible for adding new resources to the website (calculators, comparison tools, widgets, etc). Candidate would also be responsible for building some plugins and/or forms that can be imported to popular form plugins on affiliate websites.
Here’s what you need to know or have:

- Canadian University degree or minimum 2-year college program
- Excellent English communication skills
- PHP7, PHP8, MySQL
- HTML, CSS & SASS
- How to build a WordPress theme from scratch
- Bootstrap CSS Framework
- Javascript knowledge (we work with vanilla JS or Vue but have a few legacy jQuery components sitting around)
- Basics of build tools (e.g. Laravel Mix or similar), webpack, vite
- Experience with custom content types using ACF & CPT UI
- Page speed optimization and core web vitals
- Basic understanding of on-page/technical SEO
- Excellent adherence and understanding of best practices for all of the above
- Excellent understanding of client/server architecture
- Excellent understanding of built-in browser DevTools
- Good UI/UX and design sense
Strong attention to detail (we don’t want someone that takes shortcuts) and appreciation for documentation
Nice to know or have:
- Experience with the Timber plugin (including ACF, CPT UI & Twig)
- WordPress plugin development
- Graphic design skills
- Good knowledge of written French
- Advanced SEO knowledge (including Schema markup)
- Computer Science university degree
Role could easily expand to work with our Laravel projects after our big WordPress projects are completed, but in the short-term the role will be WordPress focused.
